At Canyon Hills we believe in education balanced with practical, hands-on experience. Therefore, CHBC's opportunities include, for second year students, participation in a Leadership Development Practicum and a Church Leadership Internship. The Leadership Development Practicum consists of attendance of at least one conference during the two years of study. Examples of conferences CHBC participates in are the Phoenix Pastor's School, John Maxwell's Leadership Conference, and Rick Warren's Purpose Driven Church Conference. In the Church Leadership Internship students will work in selected departments at Canyon Hills Assembly of God pertaining to their individual field of ministry. Exposure within its program includes hospital visitation, attending staff meetings, venues for preaching and teaching, planning a proper service order, participating in short-term mission trips (interacting with veteran missionaries), and an overview of pastoral administrative responsibilities.
